Effective and responsible management of stormwater runoff is an important
consideration in any landscape design. In some instances homeowners may be required
by city or county planning agencies to install stormwater mitigation in order to receive
permits for other improvements. A properly designed rain garden can be a beautiful
landscape feature that also satisfies regulations and works to reduce pollution and
flooding in our local waterways. These features also effectively attract a diversity of
beneficial wildlife into the garden.
In 2010 John took training from NC State University Bio-Ag Engineering and received
certification in the design and installation of residential rain gardens. Since then
Gardener by Nature LLC has been able to help clients needing to meet regulatory
requirements for stormwater mitigation. We also install these beautiful gardens where
we find them to be attractive and appropriate even if not required by regulation.
